Throughout history people wore hats for a reason: a medieval knight’s helmet protected his brain from battles axes; the Chinese rice hats protected the wearer from the cruel sun.  But hipster hats only identify how unique they can be next to their buddies with identical nut-squashing pants, thrift-store blazers and comb-overs.   Perhaps they wear their hats to remind them of better times, say the late 1940’s.  Budding hipsters got inspired by their senile Gramps’ ramblings about the Great War and what a waste of oxygen this current generation is.  Take that, old man!
